I'm in the city of Groningen, I am not really looking for restaurants, but rather a good place where I can buy vegetarian food from, like good products from soia, tofu, etc.. Recently I tried a product from Vivera (Vega Javaanse Schijf) and found it to be really good, are there any other brands and specific products you would recommend ? Thank you all for the replies

You can buy a lot of vegetarian burgers, saucages etc. in almost every supermarket. The best-known brands are Tivall, Quorn, Valess, Vivera, Planet Green. You'll find them in the refrigerator next to the fresh meat. You can also find the tofu over there (or in some supermarkets at the vegetablesection). Willemk49 just mentioned two shops with healthfood, one of them in the Gekingestraat and the other in the Boterdiep (the names of the streets). I personally would recommend Quorn, escpecially the bits in peanutsauce ("Saté-stukjes), tastes very good with rice. And I use the "Tofu Roerbakreepjes" a lot, it's prepared tofu. You just have to try some things, so you can find out what you like!

Thanks a lot ! I am usually buying things from Edah, and they had products from Green Planet and Vivera only. I'll try to find Quorn stuff at the stores willemk49 mentioned (thanks!)

The Quorn stuff can easily be purchased at ordinary supermarkets like Albert Heijn, Super de Boer and Konmar, you don't have to go to a special healthshop for it.

But special products like 'seitan' you can only buy in these shops. And than I don't even mention the bigger amounts of organic food.

By the way Willem, seitan can be bought in regular supermarkets, next to the Quorn (or in the vegetables departement). In Groningen go to Toko Melati on the Zuiderdiep to buy tofu (tahoe) and tempé. Cheap and good. They also sell Indonesian snacks... The biological vegetable stall on the Vismarkt (tuesday, friday and saturdays) sells soyproducts as well, and bio-eggs.

Don't forget the supermarket Jumbo at the Korreweg. They have Goodbite products now as well (on the right in the back), and if you want something they don't have in their assortment you can ask and they will order it. Maikel is near Jumbo, and there is also a chinese toko in between were you can find interesting stuff. Good luck! Sharon
